Do your semi-hydroponic pots leak?

No. One of the reasons we created our semi-hydroponic plant pots was because we'd experienced leaking with other 3D printed pots. Our pots use custom acrylic or glass liners, making them completely leak-proof and helping to protect surfaces from water damage and those dreaded water rings on your lovely wooden coffee table.

Can you give me advice on semi-hydroponic growing? I've never done it before.

This time last year, neither had we! The wonderful thing about semi-hydroponics is that there is a huge community of plant lovers sharing tips and experiences online. We recommend researching your specific plants and learning about growing houseplants in LECA and other semi-hydro substrates. Every plant is different, so what works for one may not work for another.

What is a semi-hydroponic plant pot?

A semi-hydroponic plant pot is designed to grow plants using an inert substrate, such as LECA, rather than traditional soil. A water reservoir at the bottom of the pot allows moisture to wick upwards to the roots as needed. Many plant lovers find that semi-hydroponics can simplify watering routines and help reduce common problems such as overwatering and fungus gnats.

Can semi-hydroponics help prevent fungus gnats?

Many plant parents, including us, switch to semi-hydroponics because fungus gnats thrive in damp organic soil. Because semi-hydroponic growing uses substrates such as LECA instead of soil, it can help reduce the conditions that fungus gnats love. Every growing environment is different, but many people find that semi-hydro makes fungus gnat management much easier.

Is LECA safe to have around children and pets?

Yes, LECA is made from natural clay, which is simply fired at a high temperature to create those lightweight, porous little balls – there's nothing chemical or toxic about it. That said, because LECA pebbles are small and lightweight, we'd always recommend keeping pots containing LECA out of reach of curious little ones and pets, in the same way you might with any small object around the home. If your pet or child does happen to swallow a piece and you're concerned, it's always best to give your GP, NHS 111, or your vet a quick call, just to be safe.

Can you tell your products are 3D printed?

Absolutely, although many people are surprised by the finish. We originally started creating these 3D printed plant pots for ourselves, and friends visiting our home kept asking where they could get one too – that's how Solvi3D was born! Our products are made using industrial-grade printers and premium-quality materials, resulting in beautifully finished, highly tactile plant pots that we're sure both you and your plant babies will love.

What are your 3D printed plant pots made from?

Our plant pots are made using eco-friendly, plant-based plastic filaments and are printed on industrial-grade 3D printers. The finished pots are lightweight, durable and designed to withstand everyday use while looking stylish in your home.

How do I care for my 3D printed plant pot?

Our 3D printed plant pots are designed to last, but like most plastics they should not be exposed to extremes of temperature. Avoid hot water, dishwashers, prolonged direct sunlight and placing them very close to grow lights. To clean your pot, simply wipe it with cold or lukewarm water and a soft cloth.

What are your plant trellises made from?

Our plant trellises are made from Western Red Cedar, a naturally durable timber that is lightweight, beautiful and well suited to supporting houseplants. Each trellis is hand-finished by us in Cornwall, allowing the natural character and grain of the wood to shine through.

Which plants can use a trellis?

Our wooden plant trellises are ideal for climbing and vining houseplants that appreciate extra support as they grow. They work particularly well with plants such as pothos, philodendrons, monsteras, hoyas and other trailing indoor plants. A trellis can help guide growth, provide structure and create a beautiful display for your favourite houseplants.

Why do you use Western Red Cedar for your plant trellises?

We love Western Red Cedar because it's naturally durable, lightweight and has a beautiful grain and colour variation that makes every trellis unique. It's a premium timber that complements indoor plants perfectly while providing a sturdy and long-lasting plant support.

How are your products posted?

We mainly use Royal Mail Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 services to post our orders throughout the UK. Because our plant pots and accessories are delicate, we use reliable postage methods and adequate protective packaging. We don't make a profit on postage and packaging, and delivery is free on orders over £150. Our larger Western Red Cedar plant trellises may occasionally be sent by courier, such as Evri or Yodel, due to length restrictions.

How quickly will my order be posted?

Most of our products are printed and dispatched very quickly, often the same or next day. However, because every order is made by our small business in Cornwall, please allow up to five working days for us to make and dispatch your order. The tracked service typically takes 1–3 days for Tracked 24 and 2–5 days for Tracked 48.
